“Imagination is what brings our creative gifts to life. Like the characters in my books, all children have gifts; gifts that can enrich their lives. My job is to remind them of this. They can’t hear it said too often.” -David Donohue
David Donohue is a best-selling dyslexic Irish writer primarily known as the creator of the character Walter Speazlebud, a dyslexic, backwards-speller extraordinaire and star of David’s books, Walter Speazlebud (OʼBrien Press), Moon Man and Alien Timebomb (Egmont). David’s presentations are inspiring and fun-filled performances that teach children (and adults) to use their noitanigami (thatʼs imagination to you and me!), to develop their creative writing skills and to believe in their own abilities.
David is an educational advocate for dyslexia and learning differences. He has been nominated for two British Literary Awards, performed all over Ireland, the UK and the USA and appeared on several TV and radio shows including CBeebies ʻWonderful World of Weirdʼ on BBC and RTEʼs Nationwide. He is also a scriptwriter, songwriter, music supervisor for film and a horse-racing journalist.
